Aristotle

What's Aristotle's diagnosis of the human condition?  What's his prescription?  Do you agree or not -- why?

  1. Aristotle's diagnosis gives us the meaning of life and how to put our failures to practice so that people can grow to learn why their mistakes were wrong and live a better life. His prescription is about how people achieve fulfillment by using the inner harmony that they have created because they learned from their failures i do agree with him because if you do not learn from your behaviors than how do you know that you wont make the wrong choice again.

  2. Aristotle's diagnosis gives us a firm idea of how he perceives the human body, mind, and soul, and as such, how these things are affected by death. He states that our intellect, our ability to use logic and reason, makes our very soul is different than other animal, and as such using logic, and reason to perform such acts will contribute to our efforts to human good. our acts of human good will further our steps towards a life of human excellence.
I agree with him in this regard in that excellence only comes from a life full lived, whether it was filled with human good, or not is another entire matter. I agree in that no one can see all that they've ever done, nor all that their actions have caused, until their life is fully lived, when we are allowed to see our true excellence.

  3. Aristotle's diagnosis of the human condition is that our actions determine the future of society. Good actions will result in a better society for us and our children while bad actions will lead to just the opposite. Also says how we use our failures as chances to better ourselves and enhance our lives. His prescription was to accept our failures and redeem ourselves by learning the error of ways. I agree with this because we should see our failures as opportunities and not doing so will lead us to make the same mistakes over and over again.

  4. I disagree simply because he was the first to introduce a standard of society . Meaning the separation of classes. The Hierarchy in Greece was set so that the rich got richer and the poor got nothing but more poverty. Since he was the man who identified that to maintain control and maintain a civilized empire that there would need to be some sort of separation of classes. This was well before there was a middle class because the "middle class" at the time of Aristotle wasn't treated any better than a peasant who earns a little more than normal peasants. That is why I do not agree with Aristotle's philosophy
